Providence & Worcester Railroad Station, 1 Depot Square, Woonsocket, Providence County, RI
This building is the third railroad station on the site and its most notable feature is the "light- weight curved and chamfered wooden brackets that arch well beyond the walls in a series of spoked struts and extend the roof into a parasol shelter." The ornamental nature of the roof bracketing is complemented by the mix of stone carving, terra cotta, and opalescent glass used in the building. The weather vane, shaped as a locomotive and coal car, disappeared after the HABS documentation in 1968. (See Buildings of Rhode Island, p. 236-37).
