The compound was the District Office of the Ketchum District Ranger, Sawtooth National Forest from 1929 to 1965. From 1965 to 1992 it served as a Forest Service work station and residence for employees. In 1992 the compound was exchanged out of federal ownership. The compound is typical of Forest Service compounds constructed during the Depression Era, and retains much of its original character.
