This factory building served as the principal manufacturing facility of the Ypsilanti Reed Furniture Company from 1913 until 1948. It was the major manufacturing facility for the Ionia Manufacturing Company in 1948-1953 and for the Mitchell-Bentley Corporation in 1953-1964. Both firms produced wooden and steel station wagon bodies for the major Detroit automobile manufacturers. More recently, plastic body panels and other auto parts have been made here.
