The original owner of the house, which was built for $2,000, was Joseph Sartoris, a mason, who was a resident of 1262 Thomas. Between 1919-1920, Joseph died, leaving his wife with the house. The only brick building on the block with turn-of-the-century character. Brick house with unusual roofline. Enclosed brick entrance porch with segmental arched window opening. Cement quions. Jack arches above most windows and wide radiating voussoirs above basement windows. Diamond shaped window in front gable end. First Owner: Joseph Sartoris
