Ellsworth Air Force Base, Group Administration & Secure Storage Building, 2372 Westover Ave Blackhawk, Meade County, SD
Building No. 7810, a multi-purpose building, was constructed in 1953 as part of the substantial expansion of the base during that period. This is one of the largest office buildings to be constructed at the base. It represents Ellsworth`s significant growth in both size and function during the Cold War era. Ellsworth, one of the Air Force`s major bomber bases at that time, served as a repository of a larger portion of the nation`s nuclear weapons arsenal, and became home to a nuclear missile wing.
