2617 West 40th Street Home History Loren Chadwick (builder), 1902/ enlarged and combined, 1972 Perhaps the best remaining example of what Cottage City's small homes once looked like. Contractor Loren Chadwick built three identical cottages here in 1902. One was removed in 1929, but the other two stayed put. In 1972 new owners merged the pair into a single home by connecting them with an addition at the rear. Citation: Millett, Larry. AIA Guide to the Minneapolis Lake District. Minnesota Historical Society Press, 2009.
