Joslyn Castle
Built in 1902, for Press Baron George Joslyn (1848-1916) and his wife Sarah Hannah Selleck (1851-1940). Inspired by Lyndhurst, they even named their 19,360 square foot, 35-room castle Lynhurst, but it is better known today as the Joslyn Castle. It was designed by John MacDonald in conjunction with landscape architect Jens Jensen (1860-1951) at a cost of $250,000 - and completed in just eleven months. After Mrs Joslyn died, the castle became a public building before being opened as house museum from 2010. Operated by the Joslyn Castle Trust, the house and its 5.5-acres of grounds are open to the public for tours, events and private rental - it is a popular wedding venue.
