Statement of Significance: The county courthouse is significant for its architectural merit and as the seat of local government. It is the most elaborately designed building in the county and is the most outstanding example of local use of quartzite stone. The building sits on a square donated by D.H. Sweet, who platted the addition to the town that surrounds the courthouse block.
