Mrs. Porterfield’s Boarding House
In the summer of 1919 when Fitzgerald was revising The Romantic Egoist, later, This Side of Paradise, 513 Summit was known as “Mrs. Porterfield’s Boarding House.” The struggling author spent hours on the porch discussing literature and his novel with friends Donald Ogden Stewart – whom he knew later in Hollywood when both were script writers, - and John D Briggs, headmaster at St. Paul Academy.
