Herndon-Glanton-Reeves House, 524 Greenville St La Grange, Troup County, GA

Architectural - Being one of five well developed Greek Revival houses in LaGrange and dating from the community`s earliest historic period, this house is representative of the antebellum character of this important west Georgia town. Historical - The house was home to several prominent LaGrange citizens. John P. Herndon who had the house built was a local building contractor responsible for many of the early brick buildings in LaGrange. John H. Glanton, a descendent of one of Troup County`s earliest settlers, was a considerably large landowner. Wiley A. Reeves, Sr., was a local banker. During the Civil War, the house was reputedly used as a hospital for both Union and Confederate soldiers.
