Whittinsville Brick Mill, 56 Douglas Rd, Northbridge, Worcester County, MA

This is the earliest of 3 cotton manufacturing complexes found in this prototypical New England Mill village. It was built in 1826 by Col. Paul Whitin & Sons and is one of the most significant examples of its type & period of factory construction standing. It was an early "integrated" factory, housing both weaving of cloth on power looms & the earlier spinning technology. The Whitinsville district epitomizes one of the leading institutions of the Industrial Revolution, the New England Mill village, with remarkably intact examples.
