Tyrrell Farm, 6245 Fannet Rd (Highway 124), Beaumont, Jefferson County, TX
The two-story portion of the Tyrell tenant farmstead house, barn, and machine shed were constructed for or by an early twentieth-century immigrant from Iowa, and the buildings reflect the cultural origins of the owner. The mass immigration of agricultural populations from the Midwest between 1895 and World War I was a widespread phenomenon that had a major impact on the agricultural, economic, and cultural development of twentieth-century Texas. The buildings on the site appear to be typical of farm structures more often found on Midwestern farmsteads, and these associations add significance to the site.
