Sabrina the Teenage Witch's home in the hit '90s TV show hits the market for $1.95M

"Victorian manor in New Jersey that featured as Sabrina the Teenage Witch's home in the hit '90s TV show hits the market for $1.95M (but Salem the cat isn't included)

The Victorian home that served as the exterior shot of Sabrina the Teenage Witch's house in the hit '90s sitcom is up for sale — for $1.95 million.

While the bulk of the show was filmed at TV studios in Los Angeles — and the setting for the show is near Boston — the façade of the house where Sabrina Spellman lived with her aunts Hilda and Zelda was actually in Freehold, New Jersey.

In real life, Sabrina's picturesque abode was a law office at the time, and is now home to a family business — but Michael Lubrano, an agent with Century 21 Action Plus Realty in Freehold, tells the Asbury Park Press he thinks the home's magical alter-ego 'would be a selling point.'

Retired lawyer Scott Beskin, now 83, was using the building as a law office in the '90s when a location scout stopped by and asked to take a photo of the outside to use in a TV show.

Beskin said he was offered $100 or $200 and signed a release giving them permission to use the image.

'I just thought it was flattering that someone liked the looks of my Victorian building as much as I did,' Beskin recalled.

'It was definitely the one that was used in Sabrina the Teenage Witch,' he added. 'And a lot of kids growing up knew the picture of that house.'

The show premiered in 1996.

Nell Scovell, the creator of the show, told NJ Advance Media that they were looking for an 'East Coast vibe' for Spellman Manor, and this house in particular was spot-on.

'Victorian seemed appropriate for witches,' she said.

'Of course the architecture of the inside of the house didn't really match the outside,' she added, acknowledging that the set was filmed in a smaller space.

'We tried to match the ornamentation of the front door, but the New Jersey house was way bigger than anything we could recreate on a soundstage.'

The house is actually part of two buildings up for sale, which are described as 'office/mix-use,' with the front building recognizable as Sabrina's home.

It measures approximately 4,862 sq. ft. over three floors, with a full kitchen, several offices, and a wrap-around front porch, with four entrance doors to separate offices.

The listing price also includes a 2,000 sq. ft. back building with 'about five offices and two bathrooms.'

If the nearly $2 million asking price is too much, the front building is also available to rent for $9,750/month.

For fans that grew up watching Melissa Joan Hart on the ABC and later WB show, the house will always be Spell Manor — but it had a rich history even before she and her aunts 'moved in.'

In the early 1900s, it was home to Lillian Anderson, who is believed to be Freehold's first female attorney. She was a legal adviser to the state Department of Education and columnist for the Freehold Transcript.

After Anderson died, it was purchased by hair stylists Rodney and Robert Leidner, who put on a nice display of Christmas lights each year.

Those Christmas lights caught the attention of Beskin, who bought it in the '80s for $400,000 and turned it into his law office.

He sold the building upon retirement in 2001 for $460,000.

From there, it went into foreclosure in 2011, and was sold by Boiling Springs Savings Bankto current owners Three Buddies LLC for $335,000 in 2014."
