Pleasant Hills is an excellent example of the side-hall-and-double-parlor plan, a style popular among the wealthier planter class in Prince George`s County during the early part of the 19th century. This particular example, built ca. 1830, embraces classical revival detailing, inside and out. Its fine interior decoration includes exceptional examples of wood graining and other types of faux ornamentation. The property has remained in the Sassacer and Hill family, prominent in local politics and commerce, since it was purchased by William Sasscer in 1807.
