The Levin Bates House is a fine example of a transitional Federal to Greek Revival style structure, as expressed in rural Jefferson County, Kentucky. It is one of few center passage, I-houses in the Fern Creek area of the county, or along Bardstown Road, an historic turnpike and important transportation route. The Levin Bates House was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
