Palmer Northrup House, 7919 Post Rd (U.S Route Alternate 1), Kingston, Washington County, RI
Traditionally associated with Roger Williams, that is, it has been said to be his house of 1643, this house is representative of mid seventeenth-century dwellings found in Rhode Island. At that time houses like the Palmer-Northrup House were generally one-room, one and one-half story `stone enders`. Also known as the Hall-Northup House, this building dates to ca. 1676. It was enlarged in ca. 1745 to the full two stories seen today.
