Howard Rd Historic District, Sylvia L. Phillips House, 1009 Howard Rd, Washington, District of Columbia, DC
This house is one of the oldest structures in the Howard Road historic District, having been built for Sylvia L. Phillips in 1887. It is a distinctively urban structure, its narrow proportions reflecting the subdivision of original Barry`s Farm lots that began toward the end of the 19th century. Modest ornamental features, such as plaster moldings and ceiling medallions, enhance the relative simplicity of the dwelling.
