Walter Gale House - National Register of Historic Places

Statement of Significance: The house is particularly notable a s the first independent work by American’s best-known architect. It is also significant in showing the effect of Wright's study with Sullivan which was to lead the younger man in the direction of a more disciplined geometric manner. Beyond this 1 the dwelling also serves as an example of a well-designed, picturesque residence of the 1890 's with fine interior woodwork and a small but magnificent stair hall. As an important link in Wright's evolution from a more traditional to an early modern style, the house is especially valuable.
