This is one of the earliest small frame freestanding houses in the western part of Georgetown. it illustrates the type of dwelling frequently occupied by artisans and proprietors of small business enterprises, structures that were larger than laborer`s cottages, but less grand than the homes of the Georgetown gentry. The structure is one of several remaining on 35th street that were used as combination residence-shop buildings.
