History This is possibly the oldest house on Nicollet Island dating from just after the Civil War. The structure is a two story, 1728 square foot, 11 room, three bedroom, four bathroom, duplex. The 1885 city directory indicates that Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Kirk resided at this address. A. H. Kirk is Alva Harry Kirk (1847-1928) who first lived in Minneapolis during 1871-1885 with his wife Regina and daughters Zoe and Katherine. About 1885 the Kirk family moved to Fergus Falls, Minnesota where Mr. Kirk owned and operated a flour mill. After the mill burned in 1902, the Kirk family moved to 205 West 33rd Street, Minneapolis, Minnesota, where Alva, Regina (1855-1928), Zoe (1876-1948), and Katherine (1877-1966) lived until they died.
