National Register of Historic Places - Dr. Charles Lenont Home
Statement of Significance: The house was built by Marcus Fay, the first mayor of Virginia. Dr. Charles Lenont, who founded the Lenont-Peterson Clinic and who speculated in mining properties, purchased the home from Fay and lived there until 1979. The social significance of the structure is that it is a clear example in both location and sumptuousness of the social distance and social distinctions that residential housing served to delineate in the mining communities of Minnesota's Iron Range. The building is the best-preserved example of the Queen Anne style extant in Virginia.
