Architect Stephen Decatur Button known for extensive work in Philadelphia and New Jersey. Also known for work in the South, including the Alabama State Capitol. This house is an example of the Italianate style. Carriage house (GA-281-A) was, prior to demolition, an interesting surviving dependency. Integral part of Savannah National Register Historic District. Rated "Exceptional" on Historic Savannah Foundation Survey.
