Barn on the property The barn, that resides on this property to this day, was built in the early 1860's. His envision of the ranch was to grow wheat but later began as a cattle ranch, and from here, he was know as a cattle rancher and butcher.

Vintage image of the home The colonial home was completed in 1876, where he and his wife Cornelia Crowe raised his three children, William DeVries, Lee DeVries and Marion DeVries. Cornelia Crow passed away after the birth of their third child at the age of 28. Later Cornelia's mom and sister later arrived in 1866 to help. Later on William DeVries married Mary Jane Crowe, the sister. Mary Jane later added the large pillars to the front of the colonial home, where essentially she fell off the porch and broke her hip and a year later passed.

Today on the estate, William DeVries, the first wife, Cornelia, second wife and sister, Mary Jane and two of the children (with their wifes) are buried in the family cemetery down a dirt road from the home. The third son is buried in a town near by with his wife.
