My parents had this house built in 1969 as we prepared to move from Parma, Ohio to Worthington. My father had taken a new job in Columbus and started working in the Spring of 1969. My brother, mom and myself stayed back in Parma until the end of the school year. My first visit to this area was fraught with some drama. I was in 6th grade at the time. The teachers union went on strike for a week. Mom took my brother and I over to our grandparents home near Hopkins airport. I was convinced that we were going to be enrolled in school there because of the strike. Instead, we were surprised with a road trip to Columbus to see our new home. The house was under construction when we finally moved in June. Dad had arranged to rent a house in Worthington for the summer (590 Harford Street in Old Worthington). We lived here from my 7th grade year until I graduated from college in 1979. The house itself was fairly typical of the homes in the area. 4 bedrooms, 2 baths upstairs. Living room, dining room, family room and kitchen on the main floor, all as separate rooms (open concept was not in vogue in the late 60's!). When we moved in the basement was unfinished. Within a few years dad put up paneling and acoustical ceiling tiles and put tile down on half of the basement where our pool table was located. For all I know the pool table is still in the basement, as it was quite a job for the movers to get the 7' slate bed table down there. For the most part I have great memories of living in this neighborhood. There were a ton of kids my age that we were able to hang around with. I've been able to keep in touch with one friend via Facebook. The church (now Worthington Christian School) that was in our "back yard" was super influential in my life and was the catalyst to my career choice of the Christian ministry Once again, mom and dad moved, this time in 1979 to Brighton, Michigan, so I haven't been in the house in 43 years. I've driven past it whenever I've been in Worthington. ... Read More Read Less
