2748-56 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, MN, USA

2748-56 Hennepin Ave Home History Jenson and Foss, 1927 A charming little commercial building dominated by arched windows with circling bricks laid in such a way that they almost look wedged into place. There's also plenty of stone and terra- cotta trim, not to mention spiral pinnacles along the roofline. LOST 3: The Kenwood Isles Condominiums, built in 1986 at 1425 28th St. West, occupy the site of West High School. The brick and stone school, built to accommodate more than 1,000 students, was a sturdy Classical Revival design featuring large arched entries to either side of a pedimented central pavilion. As with other schools of its period, West conveyed a sense of stateliness and permanence. But the latter proved elusive, as it always does. The school closed its doors in 1982 and was demolished two years later. Citation: Millett, Larry. AIA Guide to the Minneapolis Lake District. Minnesota Historical Society Press, 2009.
