This housing type is significant as an example of the residences added by the Navy after World War II to the large shoreline lots at Pearl City Peninsula. These two houses are the only known remaining examples of a 1941 Defense Housing design, except for a third house of similar design (Facility 732, see HABS No HI-358-E) adjacent to Facility 731.
