Old Colony Building, 407 South Dearborn St Chicago, Cook County, IL
The building is an example of the work of the Chicago firm of Holabird and Roche. Since the high, narrow, slab-like structure is almost entirely freestanding and without masonry bearing walls, an elaborate system of windbracing was employed. This was regarded as a remarkable structural achievement for the time.
