4530 Lyndale Ave S, Minneapolis, MN, USA

4530 Lyndale Ave. South Home History Hills Gilbertson and Hayes, 1948/ addition, 1961/remodeled, ca. 1970s In the years after World War 11, the St. Paul-Minneapolis Arch- diocese established several new parishes to accommodate the swelling population of baby boomers. These new parishes usually began by constructing a combined church-school building. A separate church could be built later as finances permitted. Here, however, a new church never materialized. Sheathed in Mankato-Kasota stone, Visitation is a sturdy, unpretentious building, designed by an architectural firm that specialized in works for the Catholic Church. Citation: Millett, Larry. AIA Guide to the Minneapolis Lake District. Minnesota Historical Society Press, 2009.
