Originally a part of "Sully" Plantation, and like the older frame house, it was built by Richard Bland Lee. Both places were referred to a as "Sully." Year later, subsequent owners called the brick home "Leeton" to avoid confusion with the "honeymoon" house. See also information on "Sully" (VA-250). In the discussions bearing on the preservation of both historic homes, "Leeton" and "Sully," the impressive integrity of the later was the deciding factor in favor of concentrating on "Sully."
