Construction and Residents
• Built in 1895 by Henry R. Chase who, with his father Josiah H. Chase, owned Chase and Sons Clothiers on Main Street SE (currently St. Anthony Main area). He also was a Minneapolis city councilman. • The house originally stood at 200 4th St. SE a few blocks away. It was moved here in 1911 to make way for the city’s trolley barn. • As of 2022, there have been 8 owners of this house since it was built. The longest was Shigeto Tsurusaki, who lived here approximately 1949-1984. He was relocated here after being in the Japanese internment camps. He also was a leader in the Twin Cities’ Buddhist community.
