Original Owners

This home was built by my grandfather, Axel Furuli, between 1947 and 1953. The family lived in the basement as the home was being constructed. He was a charter member of the Bloomington Fire Department which was originally on the northwest corner of Garfield and 95th. One of the bedrooms was built with three separate closets, one for each of his daughters. Four generations of our family have worked on this house throughout the years. My grandfather was a first-generation American, born to Norwegian immigrant parents. His father, Andrew Furuli, owned a commercial construction company. His company worked on many local buildings, including the Premier Bank building at 500 W 98th Street. Grandmother's flower gardens were legendary. I bought this home from my grandmother in 2008, but had to sell it in 2015 due to health issues.
