The House That Mikan Built
The "king" of basketball, George Mikan of the Minneapolis Lakers, has built himself a castle. Well, almost. It's a sumptuous, two-level rambler with some 17 rooms at 5520 Knoll Drive, Parkwood Knolls, Edina. Built so that the 6 foot-10 inch Mikan does not have to stoop when going from room to room, the house, still not entirely completed, includes five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a large living room, a dining room, kitchen and breakfast nook, a den an amusement room, a billiards room and a laundry room. The house is set into the side of a hill and has several picture windows which look out onto a lake. Here is a picture tour through the house, built for Mikan by Carl Hansen, contractor who also built Cedric Adams' home.
