Mrs. Thomas H. Gale House - National Register of Historic Places

Statement of Significance: The architect of the Gale House was Frank Lloyd Wright, generally considered to be the greatest of the American architects, past or present The Gale House was designed during the most fruitful period of Frank Lloyd Wright’s 11Prairie House 11 period. The building has been cited by numerous authorities as a milestone in the development of early modern architecture. The building was occupied by its original owner and his daughter untill962 when it was acquired by the present owner and h ls wife. Mr. Rosenwinkel is an accomplished architect himself and took great pains to restore the building to its original condition. Mr. and Mrs. Rosenwinkel occasionally open the house to visitors, although understandably they are not able to keep it open to the public at all times. It is located in the Village of Oak Park, Illinois in an area that has the greatest concentration of buildings by Frank Lloyd Wright and his contemporaries anywhere in the world.
