606 Lincoln St (House), 606 Lincoln St La Grange, Troup County, GA

This one-and-one-half story Craftsman bungalow was built ca. 1920 by the Hillside Mill to house a mill overseer or manager. The house features irregular coursed stonework with high profile mortar joints, decorative knee braces and exposed rafters with scalloped edges. Stained wooden shingles clad the walls originally; they were replaced by beaded vinyl novelty siding ca. 1990. Samuel B. Spence, an assistant overseer at Hillside Mill in 1938, occupied the house with his family from 1938 to 1958; he became an overseer ca. 1946. The house was converted to offices in recent years, hence the residential uses of some rooms are unclear.
