Moving Day

Though it won't make it into any history books, this was a huge moment for our family: on a pleasant Spring day, my mother helped me move my belongings from a small cottage in Scaggsville, just 5 minutes south of Sebring on Hwy 29. My wife Stephanie and I had never lived together even though we had been married for a month, and still would not for another month as my two young sons and I needed the time to acclimate to our new house, our third in as many years. Ever since Stephanie's father suddenly passed away just before Christmas 2021, our lives together had moved from one major transition to another with warp speed - engagement, house hunting, and a moving up of our marriage to help us use my VA Loan so we could afford any property in the NCR! (National Capital Region). We closed on the property on April 15th and started our painting and repairs right away - on moving day, I recall the movers being slow with a veery long lunch break between two trips–with a half-full UHAUL each time–and Steph joining my Mom and I in multiple trips of our own with my daily living and household necessities until late into the afternoon.
