Home background

This house was built by Allen and Fritzie Brand in 1950. They ordered the house with the plaster of the walls tinted light green, but eventually painted the interior cream. They finished the second story in the 50s - the home inspector came to assess the value of the home and they had told him that the upstairs wasn't yet finished, but then their oldest son Steve came running down the stairs and explained to the inspector that he had just finished his nap. The back room was an addition that was completed when their two sons left for college in the late 60s or early 70s. The basement originally had a fully stocked bar, complete with glassware that came from the dime store that Allen's parents had run and an extensive collection of travel size liquor bottles. It also included an incinerator for food scraps which was removed in the 90s when that became illegal.
