Moving IN

Built in 1923. Solid construction, 7/4's trusses and floor joists, lath and plaster walls, knob and tube originals wiring, updated to new style in the 1960's, then Romex. Home was refurbished with new 200 Amp shrive, new lines from the pole spring 2018. House was owned by Joseph B. Dieter until early 2018, when he passed. He was an avid woodworker, smoker and drinker. While inspecting the home after I purchased it, I was inspecting the basement on where to run Cat5 cable for the internet. A small add-on bedroom to the south of the home was an ideal spot for my office. The foundation was an add-on also, and there was a basement foundation wall separating the 2. A small open space, on top of the wall led into the addition. I struck my head up there with a flashlight to see the far wall and a way to run the cable. I then saw something odd right below the wall I was on top of. Hard to see and move my head in this opening. I got a USB camera and my laptop. The camera had light and what I saw just on the other side of the wall, was a mound of old bottles. I mean a mound, coming up from the floor nearly 7 feet. I could reach down and grabbed a few. Old Lord Calvert whisky bottles, quarts, fifths, pints, a true pyramid of old bottles. Turns out old Joe was a boxer, heavy smoker. His dispels method of tossing the bottles over the wall, was an attempt to hide this from his wife. It didn't really work. Joe stopped drinking and smoking a few years before he died, when his wife left him. This was told to me by my new neighbors to the north, now some 3 years ago. I replaced the old galvanized water piping with new PEX, added a water softener, updated the kitchen with new appliances, added an 18" dishwasher, new gas slide-in range, new refrigerator with ice/water dispenser. Replaced and updated 2 built-in cabinets in the walls, and remodeled all closets. New furnace March 2022.
