1100 Wilshire

Designed by the renowned firm of A. C. Martin Partners, this building on the western edge of downtown Los Angeles never truly served its intended use as office space. Its unusual design featured a twenty-one-story triangular tower perched atop a sixteen-story parking structure. It sat mostly vacant for years. Though the building didn’t attract office tenants, its stellar views of the L.A. basin and Pacific Ocean made it a great fit for residential conversion. It reopened in 2007 as 228 luxury condominiums with retail and commercial space on the lower floors. Photo Courtesy CBRE Urban Redevelopment Group
