Annesdale is an impressive Italian Villa style mansion. Built about 1858-61 it is named for the wife of Colonel Robert Bogardus Snowden, who purchased it after the Civil War. The house has been continuously occupied by descendants of the Snowdens. Its roomy interiors are resplendent with marbles, walnut paneling, painted ceilings and trim. The house is one of the large Memphis mansions built during the city`s boom years of the 1840s and 1850s.
