Daniel Parish House
Built 1857, for Daniel Parish (1796-1880), millionaire merchant, of H. & D. Parish, New York City, who also built Beechwood in Newport that became better associated with the Astor family. Parish's city mansion stood at the south east corner of Fifth Avenue & 16th and is not to be confused (as it has been before) with the mansion of his brother and business partner, Henry Parish (1778-1856) that stood at 26 East 17th Street on Union Square and was later the first home of the Union League Club.
