3 Red Cedar Ln, Minneapolis, MN, USA
3 Red Cedar Ln Home History William Purcell, 1928 A variant of the English Cottage type and one of the more interesting designs from what might be called Purcell's post-Prairie years. The house's wood-shake roof curls up like a wave over the front door, which features a surprising pointed arch. A lower level not visible from the street is built into a hill facing Minnehaha Creek. The first owner was a real estate developer who also com- missioned Purcell to design nine speculative houses nearby, including four on Russell Ave. Citation: Millett, Larry. AIA Guide to the Minneapolis Lake District. Minnesota Historical Society Press, 2009.
