305 Lackawanna Avenue is in a neighborhood of late 19th century commercial buildings that comprised the heart of Scranton`s business district during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the city`s greatest period of prosperity. The building preserved the 19th century scale of the commercial district although only the third story window openings (windows have been replace or removed) and corbelled brick cornice survive as an indication of the building`s original appearance. The 1st and 2nd stories of the Lackawanna Avenue facade were altered in the 20th century.
