Bostwick Hall, 3901 Forty-eighth St Bladensburg, Prince George`s County, MD

Bostwick is one of the first, and one of the few extant, structures built in Bladensburg upon its founding in 1742. Only four pre-Revolutionary War buildings now stand. Although altered over the years, it was one of the grandest homes constructed in the county during this period of early settlement. It is also of significance as the home of Christopher Lowndes, a merchant and manufacturer and one of Bladensburg`s most prominent citizens. It was also the home of Benjamin Stoddert, who served as Secretary of War and the Secretary of the Navy.
