4545 Fremont Ave S Home History Cyrus Bissell, 1930 A big scenic sprawl of a house, Tudor-Norman Revival in style, with a round tower rising above the front door. The house's slate roof seems to fall every which way, and the stonework and stucco details are all expertly handled. Bissell, a partner in the successful Minneapolis architectural firm of Haxby Bissell and Stebbins, designed this home for himself and his family. In a 1932 magazine article, Bissell's wife declared: "I've lived in this house for two years now, and as yet I haven't been able to find any thing about it that i would want to change.” Citation: Millett, Larry. AIA Guide to the Minneapolis Lake District. Minnesota Historical Society Press, 2009.
