4609 Humboldt Ave S, Minneapolis, MN, USA

4609 Humboldt Ave S Home History Purcell and Elmslie, 1917 One of the last of Purcell and Elmslie's Minneapolis houses, closer in form to a Craftsman chalet-or perhaps even a front- gabled Colonial Revival home- than the typical Prairie Style design. Although the house, clad in cedar siding and stucco, appears quite modest, it has many elegant details such as leaded- glass windows, globed light fixtures, and an arched fireplace- all the work of George Elmslie. The house, built for a physician, includes a flat-roofed garage designed by the architects. Citation: Millett, Larry. AIA Guide to the Minneapolis Lake District. Minnesota Historical Society Press, 2009.
