National Register of Historic Places - Mock Cigar Factory and House (First Carver Realty)

Statement of Significance: The Mock Cigar Factory and House, constructed in the mid-1870s, is a significant and well-preserved architectural element on Waconia's main commercial street. In addition, the two buildings are significant due to their association with one of Waconia's longest operating industries. The Cigar Factory is the best-preserved building associated with a Waconia industry dating to the 1870s. A sorghum factory, several blacksmith shops and mills, and other buildings associated with Waconia's early industrial history are no longer standing. From the mid-1870s until the 1910s the Mock family manufactured cigars -- a popular item which was sold in Waconia's numerous resort hotels and saloons. The factory and house were owned by the Mock family until 1938.
