Family residence 1967-2014

My parents owned this home from 1967-2014. We moved from North College Hill in 1967 when it was Don and Gretta with 2 kids, ages 7 and 4 - my older brother Mike, and me (Kris). My brother Dave was born in 1972. We loved the house for its quiet location, and walked to school at Brent Elementary, then later attended Whitaker and then Finneytown Junior and Senior High. Gretta and Don both worked in Information Systems at GE (where they met), first at Evendale and later at other locations. Gretta also held other jobs during her Tech-focused career, but Don was a career GE man. I later moved to Minnesota but took what I called (nearly) annual "pilgrimages" to Cincinnati. :) My children looked forward to these times when we could visit the Zoo, Kings Island, Winton Woods, and other local attractions, as well as enjoy Skyline Chili, Graeters, Jungle Jim's, Cassanos pizza, and LaRosas. The huge back yard was wonderful for playing wiffle ball and baseball, both as a kid and when I brought my own kids back. Growing up there was always a permanent dirt spot (no grass) at home plate and pitchers "mound" (it was flat), which our parents put up with for years as a concession to good, healthy, outdoor play. One of our favorite things (all generations) was to sit in the screened porch during a heavy rain or even a thunderstorm and just take it all in.

Real Estate Listing 1966

I found this listing from 1966 (my parents bought the house in 1967). I love the fact that it touted "New Formica kitchen" :) Too bad they blacked out the price, but check out the semi-annual taxes of $357.01!

Survey drawing 1956

I found an original survey for the property in my parents' things. Unfortunately it appears that the website is not displaying it. I'll keep trying.
