Built ca. 1915, this simple frame house is typical of the vernacular structures erected in a neighborhood known historically as the East End (and presently as the Hampton Wedge). It is one of many small single-story cottages occupied primarily by blacks serving the households of the nearby town houses on St. Louis and Walnut Street.
