1684 Van Buren Avenue, Saint Paul, MN, USA

This house was built at a cost of $5,000 for John J. Dewey who lived here. This elegant Queen Anne house is one of the most intact and ornate patternbook type houses in the area. It is very similar in design to a nearby house on West Minnehaha Avenue. Regrettably, the white paint does little to accentuate its wonderfully intact decorative features. Notes: Wrap around porch with turned columns, modillion blocks, pediment with sunrise motifs. Oak front door with bevelled glass window. Scalloped and square shingles in gable ends and on 2nd story which also has raised panels. Bay window on west side. Brackets at cornice. Porch has spindles with spool motif.
