Statement of Significance: The Frederick Greiner House, built ca. 1870, is significant due to its association with one of Chaska's earliest merchants and public officials. Architecturally, the house is significant as a well-preserved residence that has retained a significant degree of original design integrity Frederick Greiner, a native of Wurtemberg, Germany, was among Chaska's earliest settlers in 1854. He operated Chaska's first hotel, the Chaska House, from 1857 to 1862. Greiner was intimately involved in Chaska's early political affairs. He served as a county commissioner, chairman of the county board, sheriff and register of deeds for over a quarter-of-a-century.
